‘The quality of the writing style rivals the works of masters like Tolkien.’
So says Tammy Dewhurst who gives a perceptive (and 5 star) review of book 4, Eternal Destiny. According to her, my series now belongs in the ‘books like Tolkien’ category. Awesome. Read the full review. “This is a tough story as is befitting a novel about the life and death of humanity. Newland doesn’t give her young adult audience a break and while young readers may not get the message and depth of symbolism immediately the story will stay with them. I truly enjoy young adult authors who don’t consider their audience lacking in intelligence. She treats her audience with respect and gives them a wonderful tale that challenges their ideas and perceptions.” I like that about my writing too. The cutest review ever is from Coffee to Words. You really have to visit the site and see the awesome animations she put in her review of book 1, Lethal Inheritance. The reviewer says:…
‘Lethal Inheritance’ is now in the category of double award-winning books
I expect my regular readers are sick of hearing about my books, but I do find that every now and then, someone who has been reading my blog for ages finally gets around to reading Lethal Inheritance and wonders why it took them so long. So if you’re one of those people, then this might remind you that it is actually a very good read, and that it really is time that you read it. If you’ve already read it, then you should understand why it has received a BRAG Medallion. What I really respect about the BRAG medallions is that their readers evaluate each book according to general standards, not just against whatever books might have entered a competition, so this means a lot, and on top of my Awesome Indies Seal of Excellence, I know I’ve done a good job with that book. Now I have two books…

Demon’s Grip got an award!
The Awesome Indies is getting harder to get onto, the standards are going up and the requirements for the Seal of Excellence are very high. Here’s what one of the reviewers said about what makes a book worthy of the Seal of Excellence. “When I read a story, I want that movie playing in my head.To me, reading a fantastic book is like watching an incredible dancer. There are good dancers who perform the music with wonderful technique and accuracy, and I enjoy watching them (4 stars). But the dancer who causes me to live the music in such a way that I don’t realize I’m watching is the true artist (5 stars). An author who draws me into the story and lets me experience it through the actions and dialogue of the characters so that I have a sense of loss and maybe a little regret when I re-enter the real world–well,…
Blew my mind: another blog tour stop, another rave review
I recently wrote a review about a book that blew me away and the author contacted me and said how wonderful it was that I ‘got it’. That’s how I feel about the latest review of Demon’s Grip. Thanks, Stacy. Stacy from Book Broads says,’ I just got done reading this book and it blew my mind.’ That’s a pretty good opener! She goes on to show that she appreciated the thoughtful contemplative nature of this book. Pop on over and have a read. http://bookbroads.blogspot.com.au/?zx=16acde509256d7fa
