As the chief editor for AIA Publishing, I just announced the publication of the second edition of Almost Human by Kenneth L. Decroo. This is an unusual thriller about ... you guessed it ... chimpanzees. It's about the people who care for them, in particular scientists and animal trainers interested in locating the results of rumoured experiments breeding hybrid human/chimps, while avoiding those who seek the hybrids - if they do exist - for nefarious purposes. The book is informed by the author's personal experience in working with chimpanzees, so as well as a great story you also get a peek into the world of animal training for movies and circuses. It's a great read, and one I am delighted to have published. I give it 5 stars, not because I published it, no, I published it because I thought it was worth 5 stars. Description When Dr. Ken Turner and his colleagues decide to search for rumored half-human, half-chimpanzee creatures, they get more than they bargained for. Now, … [Read more...]
Interview with Tanya Taylor, thriller author
Hi Tanya. Welcome to the blog. First up, what kind of books do you write? Mystery, thrillers, paranormal, fantasy, and horror are the main genres in which I write. I’ve just recently written my first drama entitled ‘10 Minutes before Sleeping’, but it can also fit comfortably in the romance and thriller categories. Tell us a bit about yourself. I have been writing since I was a child and published my first book back in 1993 titled ‘A Killing Rage’, published by Carlton Press in New York. I’ve worked as a banker for several years, a proof-reader/editor, and ventured into a number of small businesses before returning to my first love of writing. I am also a ghost-writer and have been privileged to pen the stories of several influential clients who had amazing stories to tell. When I take these jobs on, I am often inspired by the life the client is so gracious to share with the world and I learn something new about life in general by reading and writing about the … [Read more...]
Brilliant, thrilling & heart-breaking: Corridor of Darkness: A Novel of Nazi Germany
I didn't plan on reading this book, because it's not really my kind of thing, but the author offered it to the Awesome Indies reviewers free in return for an honest review and when I heard that it was pretty good, I thought I'd take a look. And the brutality and prejudice growing in the German population reminded me why I don't like to read about the rise of Nazi Germany. I decided to stop reading at that point, knowing there would be worse to come, but the next day, I realised that I couldn’t bear not knowing what happens to the characters, so I picked the book up again and read until I'd finished. The fact that I did that is a tribute to the skill of the author. Given my general predjudice against thrillers, it wouldn't have taken much for me to set it aside, but I didn't. The book hooked me and didn't let go. Even at the end … [Read more...]
