You might think that Steampunk fashion is uncomfortable and not practical, but I don't. It's only the corset look that is. Get rid of the corsets in favour of elasticated belts and you can wear the style comfortably. You may not be in a work environment where you have total freedom to wear what you like, but I do because I work at home. There's nothing to stop you going all out and being creative with your clothing when you're not at work though. I find myself having some lovely conversations with people in the supermarket who enjoy my choice of clothing. Here's me in one of my favourite outfits. Creative Living: What do you Wear to Work?
I'm an incurable creative; I've even called my You Tube Channel that. Being creative is a constant in my life, not just in terms of my work, though I've been a performance artist, and are still a mask maker and an author, but also in my personal life. I love using photoshop to make book posters for social media and design book covers, and I make videos as well. I also like to be creative in my cooking, throwing different things together to get interesting flavours, but most of all, I love being creative with my clothing - much to the amusement of the people in my local village some times! When you work from home, you can wear what you want, so I do. Why not wear beautiful clothes? Besides, if I'm writing steampunk (and I am), I might as well wear it!
