It’s official. My books are now published by S & H Publishing. If you take a look at the S & H website, you’ll see that they’re a small publisher, so why did I agree to let them publish my books—didn’t I have all that together already? Yes and no. I had my books out, but I felt I was swimming upstream, trying to sell the damn things. It’s really nice to know that now someone else is trying to help me do it. I never set out to self-publish, and I only did so because after my agent and I parted ways, I’d been waiting for two years and I couldn’t be bothered going through the whole thing again with the smaller publishers—the query letters, the rejection letters, the months waiting, and for what? Maybe for nothing. And I wanted to see how it would go. I’m glad I did publish myself because I learned enough to be able to help others publish their books, but I felt alone in the big bad world of book marketing. Not anymore. Will I sell more books? I hope so, but even if not, just … [Read more...]

Do you remember ‘Lethal Inheritance’? It’s happening at last.
Lethal Inheritance is the book I started this blog for just after I found an agent to represent it. It's also the book that inspired me to start writing., which means that it's very close to my heart. Some of you have followed my journey for the last two years, some of you have only started following recently, but the great news is that I've decided to take my writing career fully into my own hands. My Indie publishing company Catapult Press is publishing it on ebook this month. At this stage there are no plans to produce a paperback, so if you haven't got an ereader yet, it's time to take the plunge. And, yes, I AM REALLY EXCITED. So what's it about? It's YA/adult contemporary fantasy … [Read more...]

One person’s idea of success may be another’s idea of failure, so on a mental level, we can sidestep it quite easily by changing our idea of success, but on an emotional level, it’s harder to wriggle away from. Warning: the rest of this post may be uncomfortable for some readers. Last night I felt like a failure and it was a strange feeling, kind of liberating in a way because once you’ve failed there’s no where lower to go, but it’s also a heavy depressing feeling especially if you consider that the last five years of your life just might have been a waste of time. Generally, we … [Read more...]
