Happiness Hints are practical tips for how to lead a happy life. They are drawn from my study and practice of Buddhism, and I use analogies and short pithy titles to help you remember them. I first wrote them as blog posts and are planning a book of them. I’ve been writing Happiness Hints since 2011, first on the now defunct Happy Honkers blog, then here, and soon I’ll be doing a Happiness Hints podcast.
What will be in it?
- Practical tips for how to lead a happy life, delivered with a light touch by Tahlia Newland, a Buddhist practitioner, author, artist and editor.
- Happiness hints, hurdles and heroes from guests with any or no religious affiliation.
- Quotes on happiness from great people.

Get involved
If you’d like to share your own happiness hint, or a habitual thought pattern that gets in the way of your happiness (happiness hurdle), or share a story about someone who did something to help others be happy (happiness hero), then please contact me at contact@happinesshints.com.
Write it out or record yourself using your phone voice recorder and send me the file for me to include in the podcast. I’ll give you suggestions for how you might handle your hurdles, and I might invite you to join me in the podcast via a Skype call.
You can also just leave a comment below.
I hope to hear from you soon. Help me make the world a happier place.
I have a very simple happiness hint: Always visualize a positive or happy outcome to events that you face. It doesn’t work 100% of the time, but I’ve learned that negative thinking is 100% right, so I come out ahead doing it my way.
That’s a good one. Thanks.
