Demon Crossings is a delightfully different story about a private investigator called Grace who tracks missing persons. She follows a kidnapped child to middle-of-nowhere Iowa and runs into a ditch when a huge beast of unknown species runs in front of her car. Aiden, a descendant of Norse gods rescues her, and she discovers a sleepy little town with a secret. Not only is it built near a portal between worlds but the Wild Hunt still rides the night looking for murderous Fire demons that have crossed into this world.
Aiden’s daughter was lost to the fire demons a year ago, and though he suspects she is dead, he isn’t sure. When Grace’s psychic ability reveals that the daughter is alive, Aiden wants her to help him find her. Of course, he’s drawn to her and she to him – it is a romance – and their relationship dances around issues of attraction, vulnerability, responsibility and trust. Aiden’s wife is dead, so there’s no impediment there, but both are reticent to give too much, especially since Aiden is not an ordinary man, and Grace’s past has left her injured.
From the blurb
Grace wants a future with Aiden, even if it means she’ll never have a normal life. When a test run to the portal takes a terrifying turn, they must learn to finally trust each other or Aiden’s daughter, and their chance at love, will be lost forever…
It’s a wonderful and unpredictable story with the kind of ending one wants from good romance, though not at all mushy. There’s a touch more explicit sex than I think is necessary, but that’s a personal thing so I’m going to give it 5 stars. I highly recommend this to all paranormal romance lovers. It’s really different.
I agree. I really enjoyed Demon Crossings. Can’t wait to read Fen’s story.
