What if the next time you reach for your phone, you let it rest—and listened instead to your own breath?
During a recent meditation, I wrote a poem I called In Moments of Stillness and I’ve used an excerpt from it as the basis of my latest video artwork. I used Suno to turn the words into a hauntingly simple but memorable song that helps me recall the words when I need that reminder. And I used Midjourney to conjure the imagery and Kling and Hailuo AI to bring them alive.
I don’t believe we must abandon smartphones forever—but we can choose not to let them fill every spare moment. Let this two minute piece be an invitation: to see the world around you without a screen, to feel your own pulse, and to remember that true connection often begins in stillness.
I wrote the poem to help me remember to do just that, because when I do, the peace is wonderful, and I hope the video helps you to do the same – remember not to fill every moment with a screen.
Put down your device,
and be still.
Listen to the whispers
of your breath,
the gentle rhythm
of your heart.
In this quiet,
find the vastness
of your being,
unfolding like a silent dawn.
What do you think?
If this resonated, I invite you to pause right now: put down your device, take three deep breaths, and notice what’s around you. Then share your experience in the comments. Are these the kinds of words you’d like to recall sometimes?
Special Offer – Pre-release Sale
The first book in the Psychemagination Series is available on ebook now, here on my website only, as a pre-release sale. You get two books for one: Psychemagination: Into the Underworld, and the Introspective AI Art Guide, and at a price you won’t see on Amazon because they charge me several dollars when customers download the book, so the retail price will always have to cover that. Buy here and cut out the middle man – who is already obscenely rich and really doesn’t need your money.
You’ll hear more on this soon, but Psychemagination: Into the Underworld is more than just an illustrated story. Apart from it being a beautiful book, it includes fifteen art-therapy exercises that take you on your own mythical journey of descent. It’s a psychological/mythical story and a self-help book rolled into one. Trust a neurodivergent mind to come up with something like this.
Anyway, check it out. The paperback will be out in a few weeks.
