This delightful story begins slowly and appears to be nothing out of the ordinary, until the appearance of the Light Eaters adds an intriguing metaphysical element. The clan’s existence and philosophy become the catalyst for Moojie’s transformation from pathetic cripple to wise man, but their wise woman’s words are as much for every reader as they are for Moojie. This is essentially visionary fiction, and though the protagonist is young, it’s a book that is likely to be most appreciated by adult. The end is uplifting and inspiring.
